The Double Bind paintings use store-bought sewing patterns applied directly to the canvas, presenting the female figure as mystical entity, resolute warrior, or stoic martyr. The sewing and assembly instructions imprinted on the pattern pieces are embellished with custom text, asking the viewer to read both the encoded material and the image at large.
