Double Bind Series

The Double Bind paintings use store-bought sewing patterns applied directly to the canvas to present the female figure as mystical entity, resolute warrior, or stoic martyr. The sewing and assembly instructions imprinted on the pattern pieces are embellished with custom text from feminist theory, asking the viewer to read both the encoded material and the image.
